Course design of “Practical Ophthalmology Series”
This course has been designed for all ophthalmic assistants or optometrists who are practicing or wish to practice in different ophthalmic setups. In this course, we deal with common ophthalmological cases that we face in our daily practices in ophthalmic OPDs. A brief overview of the diseases, their diagnosis, common investigations, and management will be discussed in an easy and practical way.
The course contains series of 8 classes (1 hour each) by clinically highly experienced and academically sound Consultant Ophthalmologists. By the end of the course, the candidates are expected to feel confident for examining, making a clinical diagnosis, and managing common ocular diseases in various ophthalmic set up independently.
Objectives
- Introduction to commonly faced clinical cases in different OPD setups.
- Know about different clinical signs and symptoms of the diseases to make a clinical diagnosis.
- Know how to perform various clinical procedures and investigations.
- Know the common clinical practice for the management of various ocular diseases including medical and surgical management options.
- Help understand what can be done and who to refer properly if needed.

- Evaluation of glaucoma and various investigations
- Various management options for different types of glaucoma
- Uveitis and retinal disorders
- Brief anatomy of uvea and retina
- Various types of uveitis, their features, and management
- Various retinal disorders, their diagnosis, and management options
- Ocular trauma and ocular emergencies
- Different presentations of blunt trauma, penetrating and perforating injuries and their management

Eligibility:
- Candidates who have completed Diploma in Ophthalmic Sciences degree for Ophthalmic Assistants.
